The fifteen year implant guarantee.

What exactly is a fifteen year implant guarantee?

The implant to bone connection is guaranteed for fifteen years. If the implant fails, it is guaranteed and will be replaced at no charge.

What is not guaranteed for 15 years?

The part that is in the bone is guaranteed for 15 years. If the implant fails, you have no tooth! The most important part gets the 15 year guarantee. The connections of the implant to the tooth are guaranteed for 7 years. Over time, an implants components undergo stress from chewing and grinding and sometimes components fail. Screws holding the implants may need to be replaced or the connection between crowns and abutments need attention. But you will still be able to have a tooth in those situations because the implant in the bone will remain untouched.

Can the bone fail to accept an implant?

Implant failure typically happens two ways.

  1. The implant can fail early. The bone never accepts the implant or fails soon after getting the crown(the tooth part).

  2. The implant slowly fails years later.

In the first year that an implant is placed into the bone, it is expected to lose about 1.5mm of bone around the implant. It is considered successful if the implant losses less 0.2mm every year after that.

But a HUGE problem potentially exists when an implant loses even a little bone. The rough surface of the implant is exposed to bacteria and then the implant progressively loses more and more bone! Ultimately leading to failure.

There are now techniques and implant designs where bone loss around the implant can be eliminated! So what is left to fail? The crown and abutment can fail over time, but those can easily be replaced and you still have a tooth.

NO IMPLANT SUCCCESS, NO TOOTH.

This is how Dr. Cingel is able to do the fifteen year implant guarantee.
